Ladies and gentlemen, good morning and welcome to the first episode of the Rebrand Nigeria Campaign.
In 2015, when President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office, diversification of the Nigerian economy from oil to non oil resources, like agriculture was one of his cardinal policy agenda.
To encourage this all important shift, his administration introduced a number of job creation programs and access to finance opportunities that supported various youth led startups and enterprises.
Therefore, for this first week of the Rebrand Nigeria Campaign, we decided to showcase a young man who chose to support the economic diversification policy by investing in the production of rice, one of the most essential staple foods in Nigerians.
He is no other than Mr Abubakar Sadiqa, a 28 years old young man from Kaduna State.
According to reports available to us, Mr Abubakar has always dreamt of becoming a farmer. Today, his dreams have come to pass as he owns a rice mill that processes over 15 tonnes of rice daily.
Not only does he contribute to the food security in the country, he has also employed over 200 other youths working in his rice mill.
Therefore, good people of Nigeria, we present to you, our Rebrand Nigeria Ambassador for the week, Abubakar Sadiq who is not only self employed but an employer of labour and a great asset to the country’s GDP.
Nigerians are good people and are hardworking!
Next week, we shall showcase another young Nigerian, who is changing lives and contributing to development in Nigeria and elsewhere, around the world.
