Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to our Rebrand Nigeria Ambassador Series! We are delighted to showcase one of many technopreneurs who is doing extraordinary things in the country. His name is ONYEKA AKUMAH, born in Lagos State but completed his primary and secondary education in Sokoto State after his parent relocated to the North-West. He has a First Class Honors in Applied Information Technology from Sikkim Manipal University, India. His launch into technopreneurship began as an undergraduate student, where he learnt the rules of business.
Today, Onyeka is the founder of Nigeria’s First Digital Agriculture platform founded in 2016. The company created an online platform channeled towards increasing food production, better seedlings, farming skills, profit and sustainability for small-scale farmers. Over 25,000 small-scale farmers in 16 states have been impacted through the organization.
Before he founded Farmcrowdy in 2016, Onyeka played major roles in the establishment of top African e-commerce companies such as Jumia, Konga, Travelbeta and more. The young technopreneur is not only involved in agriculture but also transportation and real estate.
Farmcrowdy has been awarded the National Productivity Order of Merit by the President of the Federation in person of Muhammadu Buhari.
The company is currently in partnership with Oyo State Government to empower 50,000 rural farmers.
He recently was awarded among The 100 Most Outstanding Individuals in Africa – The Africa Report, 2019, JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons of Nigerian 2019 and Leadership Award in Agriculture from the Global Leadership Institute.
