Today’s episode is focused on a talented professional footballer who plays as a forward for an international club. She is considered Nigeria’s greatest ambassador in Women’s football, her name is Asisat Oshoala.
In 2014, she was named the best player and highest goal scorer at the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup where she scored seven goals during the competition.
She played with the Super Falcons team that won the 2014, 2016 and 2018 African Women’s Championship. Oshoala was named the best player and second top goal scorer in 2014 after the tournament and in 2018, she scored three goals.
Due to her excellent performances, in 2014, she was made a member of the Order of the Niger by former President Goodluck Jonathan. Asisat’s successes also earned her the recognition of BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year, 2015.
In 2019 World Cup, Asisat scored the winning goal that enabled the Nigerian team qualify for the final 16 in France.
She has won the title of Africa’s Best Female Footballer four times.
She has played for a number of international clubs such as Liverpool ladies, Arsenal ladies, Chinese clud; Dalian Quanjian before joining FC Barcelona Femeni in 2019. So far, Asisat has scored 10 goals in 13 matches since she joined FC Barcelona Femeni.
