Good day ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the Rebrand Nigeria Ambassadors Series!
Interior designing as a career choice is one of the growing industries in the world today. Many state-of-the-art designs are created on a daily basis leaving many with hard choices to make as to which one is best for their homes, offices, hotels and even clienteles.
Carpentry as it were, was once perceived to be a man’s job but today, many women are creating mouth-watering models in this venture.
Today, we are celebrating one of such women who saw her passion in interior designing over 25 years ago, and she has built an empire from it.
Agatha Eric Udorie is an interior design who is the founder/CEO of Agatha’s Interior Design limited. The company focuses on residential, office and public space furniture and accessories.
Agatha who studied nursing at University began working while studying at an interior design shop owned by Scottish woman in Apapa, Lagos. There she learnt to make curtains and gradually got exposed to carpentry where she began to produce furniture prototypes. By the time she was through with nursing school, she focused on her passion which had become interior designing.
Eric-Udorie started out without a workshop, so she would go to the wood market in Oko Oba, Lagos and engage carpenters. Since she was knowledgeable in carpentry, she was able to translate her ideas into realities through the carpenters. Also at that time, she was working under an Italian who dealt with marbles. That was another area of expertise she developed.
Today, Agatha’s Interior Design has made furniture for the likes of GT Bank, Pastor Adeboye’s first house and many more.
The company has won many awards such as International Award for Excellence and Business Prestige (Platinum) – 2016, The Arch of Europe Award – 2015, Best Showroom Award – 2013 etc
God bless Nigeria!!
