Good morning ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the Rebrand Nigeria Ambassadors series!

As you would expect, we always have interesting stories for you and today’s focus is on a Woman in Technology!

Many women are beginning to locate their spotlights in the tech world and one of our ambassadors is paving the way for more women to join the tech industry.

Her name is Moyinoluwa Adeyemi; she is a Senior Android Developer at Zola Electric.

She holds a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State, Nigeria.

She began her journey into the tech industry as an Admissions Manager of the Google Developers Group at her university where she co-organized conferences such as Lagos Google Developers Group conferences. She started a Women Techmakers group where she mentored junior developers by organizing tech-related conferences and competitions according to Google technological standards with an attendance of over 200 students. She promoted and encouraged the involvement of more females in the group through collaborations. By the time she was graduating, she had recorded over 30% increase in female participation in competitions and events. After she graduated, she went on to work for Swifta Systems and Services International as a Software Engineer.

Moyinoluwa has developed more than 7 mobile apps ranging from tourism to social interactions and education etc. In 2012, she worked with the team that developed ‘Tour9ja’; the app provides travelers with information about the many states in Nigeria as they tour round the country.  Then in 2013, she participated in a National Software Competition and emerged 1st runner-up for developing a mobile app called ‘Efficacy’ that identifies fake drugs in Nigeria.

Well that is not all, Adeyemi and her team, participated in another competition where they developed ‘Kewe’; an educational app that reads in Yoruba language. They emerged 2nd place at Google ILO. In 2016, Moyinoluwa developed an android app that tells time in Yoruba language called ‘Yoruba Watch Faces’ in addition to many other apps that she has built.

As a senior android developer, her team is working on an app that gives people in Sub-Sahara Africa access to clean energy.

She is the first Nigerian Google Certified Developer Expert for Android. She is recognized among the #YTech100 – 2016 and 2019 as a result of her contribution to the Nigerian technology space.
