As you would expect, we celebrate our country Nigeria by showcasing the exploits of the great Nigerian people.
Today’s #Ambassador is among the many that are providing solutions to the problems of transportation in the largest city in West Africa. She is Damilola Olokesusi; co-founder and CEO of Shuttlers a transport and Tech Company based in Lagos, Nigeria.
Through their mobile app, commuters can book their seats, pay for subscriptions at very subsidized rates and track bus routes real-time. The buses are very comfortable, air-conditioned and have Wi-Fi access. Through this medium, the number of vehicles on the road, traffic congestion and carbon emissions is reduced.
The company has covered over 100,000 trips along 200 destinations within many locations in Lagos.
Shuttlers plans on going into partnership with other bus leasing companies, bus owners in order to increase the capacity of their services in populous parts of the city. They have also started The Shuttlers SHE-MOVES (Strengthen Her: Mobilizing for Social Innovation) an initiative of Ford Motor Company in partnership with Global Water Challenge (GWC) Project to empower female professionals.
Damilola is a graduate of Chemical Engineering from University of Lagos. She has received numerous awards such as Forbes 30 under 30, Award for Digital and Tech award at the Women in Africa Contest in Morocco, Award for the Best idea at the Aso Villa Demo Day, Global Shaper of the World Economic Forum amongst others.
