Today’s episode is focused on Real Estate. A group of young men came together to make accommodation easier and affordable for Nigerians and so far, they are relieving many of the pain of making 1-2 years advance payment before getting a house. We will like to showcase one of these young men whose name is Obinna Okwodu; Co-founder and CEO of Fibre.
Fibre is a real estate company founded in 2016 that is eliminating the barriers of finding homes in big cities in Nigeria. The company searches for homes for clients, offer flexible payment plans and duration thereby, reducing the burden of having to make a 2 years up-front payment before getting a home in places like Lagos. Their customer-base is usually but not limited to middle-income tenants who are given the opportunity to pay rent on a monthly basis. The company has generated over N400 million ($1 million) in guaranteed rental income, they have served hundreds of tenants, and even have a tenant wait list of over 4,000 people.
Obinna is a US born Nigerian entrepreneur. He holds a dual degree in Civil Engineering and Management Science from MIT Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Before co-founding Fibre, he worked as an Investment Banking Analyst in Morgan Stanley’s Real Estate division in New York.
He was named one of the Forbes top 30 under 30 CEOs and one of the most promising young entrepreneurs in Africa in 2018.
