Dear readers, we bring you more news on the Rebrand Nigeria Ambassadors Series!
A number of financial technology companies have started up by young and vibrant individuals. The fin-tech industry is helping many people know about savings and investment.
One of the founders of such fin-tech companies is our #Ambassador today and we are excited to share his story with you.
His name is Razaq Ahmed; Co-founder and CEO of CowryWise. CowryWise is a secure automated platform that allows people save money, make investments with no attached fees, charges or penalties. Customers get to enjoy up to 15% interest on their returns depending on the packages they select.
The Fin-Tech company located in Lagos, Nigeria was established in 2017. Razaq and his colleague co-founded the company as a wealth management platform for young Africans to plan their finances, save and gain access to investment opportunities. Since the process is automated, users cannot make withdrawals until the maturity date is due.
The company launched its mobile app for android in 2018. In the same year, the fin-tech was the only startup from Africa to make the list of 50 World-changing startups to watch in 2019. Since inception, over 2 million dollars has been processed in savings for customers and they are in partnership with Meristem Trustees.
Razaq was born in the Northern part of Nigeria however, his family relocated to the South due to crisis and unrest. Although the change was not easy initially, he eventually took hold of opportunities presented to him such attending Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State where he studied Economics and graduated with first class honours. He has worked for big companies such as Vetica Capital Management Limited, Meristem Nigeria, Shell Petroleum Development Company before co-founding his company.
