As other sectors of the economy progressive growth, the agricultural sector is not left behind. Today, the practice of mechanized farming, greenhouse farming, improved fertilizers, insecticides to mention a few have advanced the farming industry. But, the question is, how skilled, trained and knowledgeable are the people who apply the new techniques of farming or handle the upgraded machinery and improved chemicals?
One of many agriculturists who is solving the problem of man-power expertise, technical-know-how, productivity, profitability and employment in agriculture is our #Ambassador for today.
Her name is Chiamaka Theresa Ndukwu; Co-founder of AgroHive. AgroHive is an Agri-tech company that offers agricultural businesses and farmers’ trained and skilled personnels. The company recruits, trains and outsources agricultural experts for agricultural businesses such as farm managers, IT experts, attendants, interns etc.
Through this medium, rural smallholder farmers enjoy the privilege of gaining access to advanced agricultural extension services, improved farm inputs and agricultural technologies which in turn increases their productivity and income. The company engages unemployed youths and women with trainings and licenses to become expert agriculturists. Over 1,800 youths and women have benefited from their training programs, with over 100 community demonstration farms established across Ekiti, Abeokuta, Lagos and Oyo states.
AgroHive has organized agricultural advocacy and sensitization activities in many communities and are in continuity of it because of the impact it has made so far. They have successfully executed over 15 projects and are greatly impacting the quality of food production in the country.
