IYINOLUWA ABOYEJI, OUR REBRAND NIGERIA AMBASSADOR

Hello great Nigerians and welcome once again to the Rebrand Nigeria Ambassador series. On today’s edition, we will be celebrating a young Nigerian innovative and successful entrepreneur who began his journey into the entrepreneurial sector from a young age of 19. Meet Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, our Rebrand Nigeria Ambassador.

Born on March 28, 1991, Aboyeji is a Nigerian entrepreneur who is the Co-founder of Andela, and the former managing director of Flutter Wave, a payments API that enables easier processing of payments for banks and businesses across Africa.

He earned degrees in International Development, legal Studies and Economics from Columbia international college and a BA in legal studies from the University of Waterloo.

Aboyeji started his career in entrepreneurship at age 19 when he co-developed Bookneto.com,   a social learning platform that organized and shared resources amongst learning communities. This platform was acquired by the Canadian Innovation Centre in 2013.

In the same year, he started Flora, a long distance learning forum that enabled young professionals in Africa discover short certificate courses offered online, at universities and professional organizations in the United States. He cofounded this platform with his friends; Ian Carnevale, Nadayar and Brice. Aboyeji’s entrepreneurial innovative ideas didn’t end here.

In 2014, the entrepreneurial spirited Nigerian co-created Andela, a company that invests in Africa’s most talented software engineers to help companies solve the technical talent shortage and build a high performing engineering team. The company which was weaned from Flora attracted international investors amongst which are Mark Zuckerberg and Al Gore, former vice president of the U.S.A. 

He went further to co-create Flutterwave in 2016, retired from Flutterwave in 2018. Aboyeji is currently a cofounder and board member to multiple successful organizations;

Talent City, a network of charter cities across Africa focused on providing the best quality of life for African technology talents that drive innovation and digital economy(cofounder and Chairman).

Future Africa, a platform for providing capital coaching and community to mission driven innovators(Cofounder and general Partner).

Rainbow Educational Services LTD, an educational service outfit that provides high quality education to Students(Board member, Chairman finance and strategic committee).

Filmo Reality, a leading proptech and real estate services company in Nigeria(Board member).

Share Africa Project, a Paris based forum initiated by President Emmanuel Macron(Advisory board member).

Loyola Jesuit College(Member, board of Governors).

The 29 year olds’ efforts in the entrepreneurial sector have been recognized with national and international awards;

John C Holland award for youth leadership(J.C Holland Foundation,2010).

Nigeria’s top 20 under 20(This Day Newspaper, 2011).

Named World Economic Forum Global Shaper(World Economic Forum 2012)

Named World Economic Forum Young Global Leader-Dangote Fellow(world economic forum 2018)

Aboyeji made Forbes 30 under 30(Forbes, 2018)

We believe that Iyinoluwa Aboyeji still has a lot to offer the entrepreneurial sector, we are proud of the great feats he has achieved and we celebrate him today as A Rebrand Nigeria Ambassador.
