12th of August every year is set aside by the United Nations Organization for the celebration of the International Youth Day around the world.
This year, the theme of the 2020 International Youth Day is “Youth Engagement for Global Action” and it seeks to highlight the ways in which the engagement of young people at the local, national and global levels is enriching national and multilateral institutions and processes, as well as draw lessons on how their representation and engagement in formal institutional politics can be significantly enhanced.
In line with this year’s theme, we focused the themes of our discussions on “The Leadership Show with Remy” since last two weeks on a number of issues that affect the participation of youths in both politics and economic activities in Nigeria.
First, we featured, our President, a young and successful political leader, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu on The Leadership Show with Remy to discuss on the theme: “Youth Participation in Politics and Governance.” The viewership and responses from youths across the country was amazing.
The week after, we featured an Emotional Intelligence and Behaviour Change Expert, Amanda Obidike to discuss another major factor that affects Nigerian youths in the development sector, which is the “Blame Game”. As expected, that edition was also very engaging and educative.
Therefore, in continuation of the 2020 IYD celebration on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, we are featuring Muna Onuzo, the CEO of Gazelle Academy on The Leadership Show with Remy to discuss on the theme: “Personal Accountability in Leadership.” The same day, we shall also feature Ugwumba Fellows from across the country to share testimonies about the impacts of our project, the “Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge” in their enterprises and on the overall job creation and economic development of the country.
We are therefore inviting you to join these two important online events coming on “The Leadership Show with Remy” on Wednesday, August, 12, 2020 from 12 noon to 3pm WAT.
