To further prepare Nigerian youths who took part in the first, second and third editions of the Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge for global investments, the Ugwumba Center for Leadership Development in Africa has again attracted a $250,000 human capital investment program into the country.
This investment from one of our partners in the US, InnoPower Indy will take care of the 8-weeks intensive Ugwumba Startup Development Program that will enable young entrepreneurs and innovators from Nigeria learn the essentials of business modeling that work.
Announcing this to the Management of the Ugwumba Leadership Center, Mr. Emil Ekiyor, the CEO of InnoPower USA said that as young entreprenurs, this startup program is designed to equip the participants with the essentials of business modeling, which are critical for the successes of businesses and innovations in any sector of the economy. According to him, the 8 weeks program, which is valued at $2,500 per participant shall be handled by well experienced US University Professors, Professional Business Coaches and Chief Executives of US based companies. Responding to this kind gesture, the President of the Ugwumba Leadership Center, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu thanked Emil Ekiyor, his team at InnoPower USA and their partners for always supporting the enterprise development programs of the Center.
He urged those who shall be selected to participate in this program to make adequate use of the opportunity, considering the huge investments made on their behalf and to acquire skills they need to create jobs for themselves and for others. Finally, the President of the Center use the opportunity to call on other Nigerians in Diaspora to emulate Emil Ekiyor, who is known over the years, for his commitment in the sustainable development of the African continent.
Throwing more light on the program, Mr. Remy Chukwunyere, the UCLDA Executive Director announced that the first edition of the Ugwumba Startup Program shall equip 100 Nigerian youths with critical startup development skills in four different sessions as follows:
a) Session One: The Startup Ecosystem
This course shall introduce the participants to the rudiments of startups ecosystem; What a startup is and why it is different from a company? What are the goals of their startups? How they can build teams and an introduction to entrepreneurial experiments.
b) Session Two: How to Create a Market
This course will introduce the participants on how to create markets for their products or services; an overview of the product-market fix; how to craft value propositions; channels for reaching their customers; how to maintain relationships with them and how to craft the MVP.
c) Session Three: Fulfilling Demands Through this course, the participants will learn how to deliver the MVP; what activities, resources and partners they need to deliver on the demand for their products and services.
d) Session Four: Managing Money
Here the participants will be exposed to costs and revenue generation models, important metrics and access to finance opportunities.
From the course content above, it is very clear that this program which is being launched this year is intentionally designed to empower more Nigerian youths who have embraced self-employment through entrepreneurship and to support the economic development policies of the Nigerian government.
